2 . Minutes.

Following a suggestion from Dave Gage that it would be helpful if the most recent minutes, be they AGM or routine business meeting minutes, be reviewed at the following meeting (AGM or other), the chairman requested that tonight we review and accept the minutes of the last business meeting in September 2006 and those of the AGM held in January 2007. In future, AGMs would be confined to the election of officers and officers’ reports and if necessary, be immediately followed by a separate business meeting . Those minutes would then be reviewed at the next general meeting and those of the AGM at the next AGM. This was accepted by all present.

Minutes of meeting held on 5th September, 2006 - proposed by Castleton, seconded by Pontypool - carried.

Minutes of AGM of 16th January 2007 - proposed by Pontypool, seconded by Castleton - carried.

3. Matters arising from minutes

The arrangements made to help Pat Isaacs and Tony Burnell take part in series shoots have yet to be tested as Pat and Tony they have so far been unable to attend.

4. Correspondence

Attempts have been made to change the WFTA Core Rules as they relate to power settings, but these have been rejected by a majority of WFTA members.

5 Welsh Grand Prix to be held at Pontypool on April 15th

A. Course layout - Graham Snook and Howard Lloyd anticipate having most of the course laid out before Saturday 14th April, but would require some assistance on the Saturday, starting at 10a.m.

B Targets - Pontypool and Blaenau Gwent probably have enough between them.

C. Paint for targets - John Prosser and Vince Bowen to Liaise with Quarry on supply of paint.

Mark Bassett, Dorian Falconer, John Prosser, Gwynne Robinson, and Dave Gage volunteered to paint targets between sessions.

D. Chief Marshall and assistants:-

Morning - Dorian Falconer and Chris Land.

Afternoon - John Lewis and Derek Winslow.

Castleton said they would provide marshals for the chronograph, and also provide a cover for it.

The chronograph is to positioned reasonably close to the zero range.

E.Stats. Scorecards will be provided by BFTA . Pat Isaacs and Hilary Gage volunteered to run stats. The secretary is preparing lists of those who have booked in allocated to lanes, and also score sheets divided into grades. There will be Sporting and Piston (Springer) grades as well as AA, A, B, C.

A separate shelter is required for stats, Castleton expect to have one available, but John Johnson would be approached to see if his trailer could be used.

F. Direction signs - John Prosser and Dave Gage offered to do these..

G. Toilets - Gwynne Robinson will arrange the Portaloos, Hilary and David Gage will provide a camping type.

H. Catering - not settled, John Prosser will discus this with Marylin Snook later in the week.

I. Zero range - John Prosser said that the best and simplest system was cardboard attached to metal stakes, Vince Bowen offered to provide some from Blaenau Gwent.

The stakes would be driven on Saturday, the fitment of cardboard would be dependent on the weather. Pat Isaacs offered to provide printed card to be secured with tape.

J. Side shoots, two at least The BFTA Silhouette shoot counts as one, the Pontypool Ten Shot will be the second. Dorian Falconer will arrange the supply of targets for the silhouette. Tondu and Castleton will marshal the side shoots but the silhouette can be Buddy Marshalled if necessary. The fee for the Ten Shot will be £1, there is no additional fee for the Silhouette.

Gwynne Robinson suggested a Pistol shoot, but it was felt that this would not be practicable.

K. Trophies for side shoots - Gwynne Robinson will allocate cash prize or prizes for the Ten Shot, depending on the number of entries. BFTA provide medals for Silhouettes.

L. Air horns - Quarry have obtained a new one, plus some spare air cylinders.

M. Space for Silhouette course - Pontypool will arrange.

N. Radios - Dorian Falconer reported that the previous set had been lost (stolen?), his experience last year showed that mobile phones were as good if not better.

O. Will camping on site be possible? No, but some information on local B & B would be helpful.

6. Any Other Business

The secretary reported that he had sent the percentages from last year’s Summer Series to the BFTA Grading Officer, so most people would have BFTA gradings this year. He also mentioned the WAFTA membership list held by BFTA which showed over five hundred members, and suggested that club secretaries send an updated list to BFTA (Tondu and Avon Hawks have already done this, but no action has been taken).

Mark Bassett is to be asked to obtain a trophy to be retained by the winner of the Welsh Open, up to the value of £20.

Meeting closed at 21:00.
