1/. Apologies for absence were received from John Parry.

2. Minutes of AGM 17th. January 2006 were read. Castleton proposed that they be accepted as a true record, Pontypool seconded the proposal and the meeting accepted the proposal.

3/. Matters Arising from Minutes

The Chairman informed the meeting that team selection did not follow the format decided upon at the last AGM, in that people were not informed prior to the Home Internationals. After discussion it was proposed by Nelson that the team selected is put on the web site at least a week before the competition, people who are asked and accept and subsequently fail to attend will not be asked to represent Wales or the region for the following year.
Tondu seconded the proposal, which was accepted by the meeting.

4.Correspondance.
The secretary informed the meeting that he had received the BFTA draft constitution and byelaws which each region was expected to read and pass any changes or corrections to the regional representative.
The Chairman informed the meeting about correspondence which was going between the governing bodies of the WFTF with regard to standardising the rules for the World Championships. It seems that 12ft/lbs will be accepted as the power level for the Championships.
E-mails have been received from Keith Ryan with regard ways to improve the running of the BFTA and shoots in general. The Chairman has replied to these.

W.A.F.T.A A.G.M. - CHAIRMAN'S REPORT For Year 2006

Membership continues to increase particularly in Castleton and Tondu, although members shooting in competitions seem to remain stable. We have been saddened this year with the deaths of both Jon Thomas of our Tondu Club and David Baines BFTA Competition Secretary.Jon was a stalwart of Tondu Club and of WAFTA and his dry humour and dedication to our sport, particularly to its safety aspects, will be a lasting legacy. He was one of our most experienced and talented shooters, both with his beloved Pro-Target and of course his pistol and was always willing to help and coach younger members. He will be sorely missed.David Baines’s talent for course building and administration has left a gap in BFTA that will be hard to fill. Our condolences go to both families in their sad loss.

Highlights of the year: -

· WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – This was held in Poland and I am pleased to record that mention must be made of Dorian Falconer who was 6th overall.

· EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP – Here again, Dorian Falconer was in 6th

· HOME INTERNATIONAL – Held this year in Scotland. Unfortunately, this year we were beaten into third place – none of us seemed to be on top form, although apparently, some of our team won the ‘convivial stakes’ the previous night!

· THE WELSH OPEN - another successful event which endured more than its fair share of wind and rain... Our Open was also GP1 and was well attended.

· WAFTA/SWEFTA Shoot – This year held in the East Devon FT Club. Unfortunately we were not able to enter our full strength team (Scotland the previous week?) and were narrowly beaten. However we supplied two shooters for the top three places – I and Steve Turner, who took the first prize.

· JON THOMAS MEMORIAL SHOOT – this was held in at the year’s end and a shield donated by Jon’s family, was presented by his sister to the winner, Barry Smith.

· WELSH MASTERS – Although won by a visitor from England (T. Williams), nevertheless, we took the next three places and all enjoyed the 80 shot course. Thanks to all who organised the day.

· B/GWENT Event –B/Gwent Field Target Club were once again involved at the Merthyr Tydfil Council’s Cyfarthfa Castle during both the May and August Bank Holidays. As always, a lot of hard work by the club resulted in good PR for our sport

· B/GWENT Barbeque – This is fast becoming THE popular event of the summer, combining family entertainment with an informal shoot.

· PRESENTATION NIGHT – The Annual Presentation night for the first five places in Groups A, B and C was held in December at the Hafodyrynys Rugby Football Club. Again many thanks to Marilyn Snook and helpers who both organised the evening and provided the excellent buffet. This time there was no disco, so that socialising would be easier (and quieter). Thanks also to Mark Bassett for the obtaining the Trophies.

· WEB SITE – Again we thank Wayne Wixey for running, editing and being responsible for our Web Site, in such a professional manner and also our thanks to John Johnson for maintaining the Stats for us.

Our thanks must go to Hilary and David Gage for their work on our behalf as our joint Secretariat and who are now standing down. We are grateful for their hard work over the past years and for their attendance at the BFTA meetings, keeping us informed and placing our contribution before those meetings. Thanks again to our Treasurer, Gwyn Robinson, for his efforts keeping us on the straight and narrow!I look forward to 2007 as a year to enjoy our sport even more, with new members joining as we continue to exhibit the acceptable and considerate face of Air Gun Field Target shooting.

h. Representatives for BFTA meetings It was decided that someone should attend the meetings with Derek, Dorian informed the meeting that he could attend the next BFTA meeting on the 10th. February and would accompany Derek.

7/. There is some doubt as to the level of BFTA the subscription (£3 or £3.50 - this is to be clarified)

8/. £125 was allocated as money for Grand Slam prizes, Mark Bassett to arrange purchase.

9. The discussion at the previous BFTA meeting (which was not minuted by BFTA, as it was on an existing rule on which no conclusion was reached) concerning the actions to be taken should a Grand Prix target or targets to be outside specifications was raised with the AGM. These actions included voiding of the GP results and fining of the club responsible, the question of how to resolve the scoring was not settled at BFTA. After discussion, it was agreed that the following suggestions for rule changes be submitted to BFTA:_

a. GP results are not voided because of out of specification targets.
b. The region responsible is refused the right to hold a GP the following year.
c . Scores should be calculated on the basis of the legal targets, eg if two targets are incorrect on a 50 shot course, scores are based on the 48 good targets.

10/. The Welsh grand Prix ground was agreed to be Pontypool, with Tondu as reserve.

11/. Summer series dates were decide as under:-

May 6th Not the NEFTA at B/Gwent
May 13th WAFTA (Nelson)

12/. AOB. Pat Isaacs asked that all clubs be reminded of the arrangements made to accommodate himself and Tony Burnell. These are that the host club should inform them of the discipline lanes, these lanes would not be shot by Pat or Tony, instead whichever of them arrived first would select at random other lanes to be shot twice in their place.

Pat also offered to run the stats at the Welsh GP

Howard Lloyd suggested inclusion of meal allowance in expenses for visits to BFTA meetings - it was agreed that £5 that would be given. Travel expenses would depend on who was going and they would discuss this with the treasurer.

Wayne Wixey suggested a prize be given at the end of each series of shoots based on the number of targets hit - this was agreed.

A suggestion that winter series scores should not affect gradings to enable shooters to shoot with other rifles during inclement weather, was not adopted. It was confirmed that winter series scores will continue to affect gradings, so that movement between grades can continue to take place on a half yearly interval

Meeting closed at 8.55pm.
