Welsh Airgun And Field Target Association

WAFTA
consists of 6 clubs from the South Wales and Avon areas and is the governing body for the sport of field target shooting in Wales, but our membership is not just restricted to competition shooters. In fact we probably have more non-competing shooters who are quite happy to turn up on club days just to shoot in a safe and friendly environment.

Field target shooting consists off a course of 40 metal targets with a kill zone of 25 or 40mm, which you must hit cleanly to make the target fall over. The targets are placed from 8yds. to 55yds. from the shooting position and can be shot from any position the shooter chooses unless the targets are designated standing or kneeling. One point is awarded for a hit, which makes the target fall over but zero for just a strike on the metal that does not. Summer and winter league competitions are held which keep most shooter fully occupied all year round.
